As you’ll hear in the video, this is the apartment the architect, Gary Chang, grew up in. I can’t imagine a more charmed life than having the opportunity to repurpose your childhood home in any way you so choose. And from the looks of it, he’s made a pretty decent go of it. On top of the application to a living space of the concept employed by file cabinets, the like that one might find in hospitals and such, I like the visual and conceptual re-iteration in the shelving, upholstery and windows. The last shot of him in the hammock makes the place seem like such an ideal solution to urban cramp. One can see why this wouldn’t work for more than one person.
